CSHS Hosts Professor Oula Ghannoum for Academic Exchange

On September 23, 2026, Professor Oula Ghannoum, Director of the Australian Research Council (ARC) Training Centre for Smart and Sustainable Horticulture (TC-SaSH) at Western Sydney University, visited the Chinese Society for Horticultural Science (CSHS) and held academic exchanges with Chinese experts.

Professor Ghannoum delivered a lecture titled “Building Resilience and Future Cropping Systems,” introducing TC-SaSH and its research on automated crop monitoring, protected cropping, AI and imaging, and decision-support systems. During the discussion, experts exchanged views on crop phenotyping, hyperspectral detection of seed vigour, 3D reconstruction, data collection and analysis, student exchange, joint experiments and future conferences. Both sides agreed to continue talks and explore institutional partnership with TC-SaSH. The visit further strengthened academic links between Australian and Chinese horticultural researchers.
